In the twisted mind of the Philadelphia Flyers equipment manager, nothing says “Happy Holloween” like a Gatorade cooler jerry-rigged to uncoil a rubber cobra upon opening.

Flyers' Vincent Lecavalier pranked with snake

Falling prey to the trick, which was pulled way back in 2014, were Flyers players Claude Giroux, Nicklas Grossman, Braydon Coburn, Steve Mason, Zac Ronaldo, Vincent Lecavalier, Jason Akeson, Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Luke Schenn, Michael Raffl, Chris Vandevelde, and Ian Laperriere.

HARD-WIRED FEAR

The Flyers shouldn’t feel any shame in reacting like skittish schoolgirls at the sight of a snake — there is research that suggests the fear is hard-wired in the human brain. However, even this seemingly primal impulse can be overcome, as demonstrated by India’s famed conservationist Vava Suresh.

Suresh relocates the snakes from populated areas where they would normally be killed, to wildlife parks in and around the district of Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala.
